52 Library Card Uses
Borrow an audiobook for your next road trip. Number 29 in a series of uses for your library card.
Audiobooks are books you listen to. Sometimes they are read by their author and sometimes by expert readers who can create several distinct voices within one story to bring the book alive for the listener. Audiobooks provide listening enjoyment for all ages and interests. Many popular adult and young adult books, fiction and non-fiction, are published as audiobooks, and Great River Regional Library (GRRL) has a large collection on CD and cassette. You can listen to them while exercising, driving, cooking, or otherwise keeping your hands occupied and mind open. Young children enjoy listening to stories, and GRRL provides audiobook kits that include cassettes and books so children can read along with the story they are enjoying. A "subject alphabetical" search of the library catalog using the term children's audiobooks generates a lits of more than 3,000 titles!
The library also offers downloadable audiobooks through the Digital Library. The breadth of offerings is significant. Hundreds of downloadable titles are available and the collection is growing.
With an audiobook for company, even washing dishes can be fun!
