State Fair Discounts
The Minnesota State Fair is offering discounts to library card holders on September 2. They’re calling it Read & Ride Wednesday. The discounts apply to gate admission only, but adults save $2, seniors save $3 and children 5-12 save $2. Read more »

Howard Lake Author Talk Impresses Audience
Author Barbara Sommer gave an author talk at the Howard Lake Public Library on July 15. Sommer spoke about her Minnesota Book Award-winning “Hard Work And A Good Deal: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Minnesota.” The Civilian Conservation Corps supplied jobs to more than 77,000 Minnesotans during the Great Depression. Board Approves HQ Management Restructure; Requests Further Study on Branch Changes
At its July 14 meeting, the Great River Regional Library (GRRL) Board of Trustees approved a reorganization of staffing at its headquarters and St. Cloud branch library. It also asked for more information on a proposal to reorganize other staffing across its system in Central Minnesota. Read more »

Paynesville 4H Club Teams With Friends of the Library & City To Landscape Library Park
In October of 2006, The Central Minnesota Initiative Foundation selected the city of Paynesville for a visit from the Minnesota Design Team . Paynesville Branch Kids' Playhouse Gets Facelift
With funds and assistance from the Friends Of The Paynesville Public Library and library preschool story hour participants, the much-loved playhouse at the Paynesville branch recently got a cheery new interior paint job. With instructions and help from Friends president Molly Zimmerman, children used their thumb, palm and fingerprints to paint fantasy creatures on the inside walls. Read more »
