Diary of a Wimpy Kid Workshop at Becker
Spencer and Chris from GREAT Theatre had their work cut out for them at the Becker library onThursday, April 28. They came to do a 90-minute drama workshop to develop children’s creativity and self-expression. Using a script based on the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books by Jeff Kinney, the kids showed great enthusiasm and wonderful expression. Read more »

Beginning Chapter Books
Children don't leap from picture books to novels. Their comfort with reading complex stories develops over time. The next step from picture books is easy readers, and after easy readers they begin chapter books written specially for children. These combine pictures with text in a longer format. Customer Satisfaction Survey Prizewinners Drawn
Congratulations to Connie Barnier of Elk River and Renee Stafsholt of St. Cloud. Their names were drawn as prizewinners from among thousands who completed the recent customer satisfaction survey for Great River Regional Library (GRRL). Minnesota Book Awards Winners Announced
The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library announced the winners of the 23rd annual Minnesota Book Awards at its annual gala on Saturday, April 16. The Friends announced winners in eight categories as well as a Readers’ Choice Award selected by nearly 2,000 voters from across Minnesota. Read more »

"Images of Israel" Photo Exhibit On Display At Paynesville Branch Through End of April

"The Story of Music, Stories of Home" to be performed at the Belgrade Library May 17
"The Story of Music, Stories from Home", created by Gary Holthaus and Lauren Pelon, combines music, stories, and poems to explore our sense of place, home and community.
Holthaus is the author of three books of poetry and several collections of essays, and has been awarded a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts. Read more »
