New Open Hours for Long Prairie Public Library
The open hours for the Long Prairie Public Library will change for the new year, beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. The library will continue to be open for 35 hours a week. The new hours are as follows:
Monday 1-7 (from 2-8)
Tuesday 10-6
Wednesday 12-6 (from 2-8)

Kimball Adopts New Open Hours for 2013
The new library open hours for Kimball begin on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Friday open hours have returned to Kimball Library. With the adjustment of allocated hours the Kimball library now is able to offer Friday open hours while still keeping two weekday mornings and one later evening.The new hours are:
Monday 10-1, 2-7
Wednesday 10-1, 3-6

New Hours Begin January 2 in St. Michael
Great River Regional Library is changing open hours at St. Michael and five other locations for 2013. The five other branches are Albany, Howard Lake, Kimball, Long Prairie and Swanville. Go to http://www.griver.org/locations-and-hours for all 32 locations, their hours and for more information.

"Escape Into Reading" in 2013 with the Great River Regional Library Winter Reading Program. The program is for teens and adults and continues Jan. 2 through Feb. 23. Opera Through the Ages Performance in St. Cloud
Join award-winning Minnesota soprano Evelyn Nelson for a tour of opera through the ages on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 3:00 p.m. Nelson's performance will take place in the Mississippi Community Room of the St. Cloud Public Library. First Thursdays at St. Cloud
First Thursdays is a series of free arts events held at the St. Cloud Public Library the first Thursday of each month from 7-8 p.m. in the Mississippi Community Room. The inaugural event is "Dancing with Many Voices" on Thursday, Jan. 3. Read more »
Third Thursday Make & Give Gift Night in St. Michael
Santa's workshop might be a bit busier than normal right now, but there were 20 elves working hard on their Make & Take gifts at St. Michael Library on Thursday night, Dec. 20. Participants had the opportunity to make three different gifts to give to parents, grandparents or siblings. Read more »

Deck the Halls with the Merry Music of the Knudtson Family
It's the most wonderful time of the year at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. On Friday, Dec. 21, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., enjoy the traditional gospel and bluegrass stylings of the sounds of the holiday season with the Knudtson family! This eight-member musical family will provide a musical experience the whole family will enjoy.

Puppet Theatre "Nalah And The Pink Tiger" at Paynesville Feb. 9, 2013
The Paynesville branch of Great River Regional Library will feature a live puppet show on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. "Nalah and the Pink Tiger" is based on a picture book of the same title by artist, author and puppeteer, Anne Sawyer-Aitch. The story is about a girl named Nalah who lives so intensely in her imagination that grown-ups around her view her as a troublemaker. Read more »
Dec. 10 Buffalo Library Program Cancelled & Rescheduled
Tonight's Dec. 10 program at the Buffalo Public Library has been cancelled because of travel difficulties experienced by the performer. The event has been rescheduled. Adults, teens and children are invited to the library for “The Gift” on Monday, Dec. 17, 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Read more »
New Art in Staples
Pam Collins (left) of Staples, was commissioned by the Friends of the Staples Public Library to create an original work of art for the library. Together the pieces measure 12 ft. wide by 4 ft. tall. A variety of colors and textures were incorporated to create the abstract fabric landscape. Read more »
Instructions Delay Anticipated This Tax Season
The delivery of tax instruction booklets is likely to be delayed this tax season because of pending congressional action. Many people get their tax forms and instructions at the library, but the library may not have the instruction booklets on schedule this year. Here’s the information the library recently received from the IRS.

St. Cloud Celebrates David Sedaris with Adult Storytime
David Sedaris - Grammy Award-nominated humorist, essayist, NPR contributor, and playwright - is the focus for December's adult storytime series at the St. Cloud Public Library. Come to the library Wednesdays this December from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to enjoy some of the stories that made Sedaris Time Magazine's Humorist of the Year for 2001. Read more »
