April is National Poetry month: On Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m., join Barb Hawes, poet and artist from Marshall, MN, at the Paynesville Public Library for a discussion of her work. Read more »
Library Assistant Angie Johnson and our Staples staff were surprised to receive a basket of treats from 1st International Bank & Trust on National Librarian Day - April 16. Three bank employees delivered the basket which had a note, "Thanks for all you do for our community." We appreciate their support and we are enjoying the treats.
Llama Llama Day was held at the Melrose Public Library on Thursday, April 10. There were live llamas from Hemker Park and Zoo, crafts, stories, and snacks. Approximately 90 people were in attendance and each child received a free LLama LLama book that was donated by the Melrose Friends of the Library.
Melrose Public Library celebrated National Library Week with an author visit from William Kent Krueger.
He lives in St. Paul and writes about crime in Minnesota's north woods, frequently introducing characters and cultural lore from the Anishinaabe Indians. Several of his books have received national awards. Read more »
Central Minnesota Legal Services, in cooperation with volunteer attorneys and the St. Cloud Public Library, will be conducting free legal advice clinics to assist low-income persons with issues regarding family, estate, and probate law.

Curious about turtles? Visit the St. Cloud Public Library for an evening of turtle trivia, tales, and treats topped off with a tremendous art project. See you there ~ Tuesday, April 22 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Ages 5 to 9. Limit 35. Registration is encouraged. The event will take place in the Children's Program Room.
Bring your favorite doll to the St. Cloud Public Library for an evening of enchanting stories, sweet treats, and tea on Tuesday, April 15, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Remember to bring your fashion sense: materials will be provided to make a delightful, dashing dolly accessory! The St. Michael branch of Wells Fargo Bank has donated one of their large stuffed ponies to the St. Michael Public Library. Sheena Nelson, store manager for the Wells Fargo Branch stopped by the library on Monday, April 7 to drop off the new addition. The Wells Fargo branch gets one large stuffed pony a year they can donate, and this year, the library was the lucky recipient. Read more »
The St. Cloud Public Library, in conjunction with St. Cloud Federal Credit Union and St. Cloud State University’s Center for Economic Education, will host a Financial Fitness Workshop Series Tuesdays in April from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the upper level in room 208. Do you dream of becoming the next Suzanne Collins, but don't know where to start? Come to the Bremer Room at the St. Cloud Public Library Saturdays, April 12 and 26 from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. for help. Volunteers from the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University will help participants explore creative writing.

St. Cloud will never be the same. St. Cloud Public Library is hosting the first and only Open Mic Night in town that is 100% for teens by teens. The St. Cloud library's Teen Advisory Board will be MC'ing the event. The Cokato Public Library will be closed April 7 through April 21 for remodeling.
It is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, April 22 with a brand new look.
During the closure, the loan time on items borrowed from the Cokato library (not due prior to April 7) will be extended to April 22. Read more »
