Chef, writer, and television host Amy Thielen will visit the Pierz Public Library on Wednesday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m.
Thielen is writer of "The New Midwestern Table" and the host of "Heartland Table" on the Food Nework. She will sign her cookbooks and answer questions about her book and show. Read more »
The Melrose Public Library's Kickoff to Summer party took place on Monday, June 9. The Stearns County Dairy Princesses served root beer floats, a balloon artist made very creative balloons for the children, and magician/comedy performer Brodini entertained the crowd. There was a great turnout and many children signed up for the Summer Reading Program.
The next phase of the Becker Public Library's Dewey Decimal Murals project begins Monday, July 7 with local artist Alison Love Unzelman. This phase will focus on the Dewey section 100-199, Philosophy and Psychology. The final product will look like an optical illusion. The Dewey Decimal system is used to organize nonfiction materials on library shelves. Read more »
Author and illustrator Rick Chrustowski drew a crowd of kids and their parents to a program at the St. Michael Public Library on Monday, June 23. The author of "Blue Sky Bluebird," and "Bright Beetle" described the process of writing and illustrating a book, answered questions, and got the kids involved by having them learn about collage art illustrating. Saturday, June 28 from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. in the Mississippi Room at the St. Cloud Public Library. Be there ~ or miss out on history being made.

For adults: Master Gardeners of Stearns County will be available to provide research based information from the University of Minnesota Extension on Thursday, June 19 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the library's Array Room.

Forty Upsala area residents enjoyed Jeffrey Vinokur, The Dancing Scientist, as part of the library's Summer Reading Program kickoff in June. Kids learned about polymers and smoke rings and acids from Vinokur, who has an M.S. in Biochemistry and performs kid-friendly science programs at schools and libraries across the country.
The Becker Public Library hosted the Dancing Scientist on Tuesday, June 10 to a huge crowd of 176 kids from the Becker community. They watched as Jeffrey Vinokur danced, made air visible, changed colored water back to colorless water and made string that he pulled out of the beaker, as seen in the photo. Read more »
Stop by the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and stock up on lots of good summer reading! The 2-day book sale will be Friday, June 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The sale will be held across the street from the library at The Pet Vet garage. Donations of books and movies are accepted year-round. All proceeds benefit the Long Prairie Public Library. Elmer the Elephant will spark children’s imagination and creativity during Waite Park Public Library's storytime Thursday, June 12. Participants will create a costume inspired by Elmer’s patchwork colors to wear in the Waite Park Family Fun Fest Parade Saturday, June 14.
