The library's DVD collection has all kinds of great films: classics, blockbusters, fitness programs, foreign film, concerts, kids' movies and more. It's a large collection that is best searched online. Some of the most recent purchases appear on two lists: DVD - U.S. & Foreign Feature Films, and DVD - Documentaries & How-to Films. The feature films list includes Bliss, an award-winning and beautifully photographed film from Turkey. It's based on the novel Bliss by Zulfu Livaneli, and is about a young woman who has been raped, and under the rules of the prevailing rural culture is considered to have brought shame on her family.  Lighter fare is Robot & Frank, starring Frank Langella. He plays a retired crook whose son has bought him a robot to help out with chores and provide company. Dad sees the robot as a perfect accomplice. And France's Daniel Auteil directs and stars in The Well-Digger's Daughter, set in rural Provence at the outbreak of WWI. The daughter of a poor well digger is impregnated by a wealthy pilot just before he heads off to war. Auteil, in the role of the father, is left to sort out the mess.

On the documentaries list there's Jason Becker, Not Dead Yet, story of a guitar prodigy whose career was ended by Lou Gehrig's Disease. When the diagnosis was made in 1989 Becker was given 3 to 5 years to live. He is still alive and composing music with the help of technology. Another artist who has managed to overcome adversity is blind and deaf  poet Young-Chan. Planet Of Snail documents how he communicates his poetry to his wife through finger braille.
