Going On Vacation? Don't Forget To Pack Your Library Card!
Your Great River Regional Library card could be one of the most useful pieces of plastic in your wallet! Because Minnesota has statewide 'Reciprocal Borrowing,' your GRRL card is honored at most libraries in the state. (Check to see if they're affiliated with a library system.) Stuck in the cabin all week because of torrential rains? Head into town and check out books, CDs or DVDs to keep everyone entertained and happy until the sun shines again. Need to check your email? Stop into libraries en route to reserve time on their public access computers, (they might even have free wireless Internet). Remember, too, that local librarians will certainly be able to help you discover information about local history, festivals, attractions, maps, bike trails or maybe even the nearest state park or good fishing hole.
Some helpful tips: You might need to present a picture ID along with your card, and you'll likely need to fill out a registration form so that the local library computer will recognize your card. Any items you check out should be returned to the same library to avoid overdue fines or other fees, and it's smart to call ahead to reserve computer time if possible, as Internet stations are popular and busy throughout the state.
