Great New Magazines
Great River Regional Library (GRRL) has a fun and interesting selection of magazines. The current issue of any magazine is available for use inside the library. Back issues are available for checkout, just like books.
Each year, library staff check what is being used and what is being requested and make changes to the collection. More than 50 new titles were added for 2010. Some of these will probably be on the shelf at your local library. Those that are not can be found on the catalog. If you do a General Keyword search of the catalog using the terms magazines and periodical you will see titles for all the magazines we have available. (It’s a lot!) A more efficient way to find what you are interested in is to use a Subject Keyword search. For example, search using the terms women and magazines or sports and magazines to get a more manageable list of titles to browse through.
The new titles were selected from public requests and staff input. Here are a few examples of what is new this year.
Atlantis Rising (ancient mysteries and future science).
Bark (about dogs)
Bust (pop culture & feminism)
Click (science and nature for children)
Dish (fashion and style for “young women of all ages”)
Family Tree Magazine
Fast Company (a business magazine focusing on new technology)
Good (general interest dedicated to social issues)
Herb Companion (health, wellness and food)
Military Spouse (covering issues special to military spouses)
Mystery Scene (mystery novels, films, television)
Spin (the contemporary music scene)
VegNews (vegan news and food)
Where Women Create (inspiring work spaces of extraordinary women)
