GRRL Partnering with Census 2010 to Provide Information

The Upper Midwest is leading the nation in Census 2010 participation. The national participation rate is 62 percent as of Wednesday, April 7, with Minnesota at 72 percent just behind national leader Wisconsin at 74 percent.

Census 2010 is continuing to gather information. The completed picture of the nation’s population distribution will be used to help determine how more than $400 billion of federal funding is spent each year on infrastructure and services.

Great River Regional Library (GRRL) is cooperating with Census 2010 to inform people about the census and ensure that the best possible return is achieved in our area. Census 2010 is providing assistance at most GRRL branches in the form of Be Counted stations or Questionnaire Assistance Centers (QACs). If you have questions about how to provide the information required by Census 2010, visit a GRRL branch library.

Be Counted stations provide forms and information materials.
QAC sites are spaces where staff from the local census office or a partner organization are available to answer questions about completing the questionnaire, provide special language assistance and answer general questions.
All QAC and Be Counted sites will close out on April 19. People have until May 1 to mail in their census forms. After May 1, census workers will begin calling on the residences of those who have not yet responded.
