Guthrie Classes Bring Theater Professionals to Libraries

Professional teaching artists from the famed Guthrie Theater are conducting classes at each of the 32 Great River Regional Library branch libraries in the upcoming weeks and months.

Guthrie offerings include “Intro to Shakespeare,” Once Upon a Time Kid Storytelling,” “Duke It Out: Intro to Stage Combat,” and more. The 90-minute classes are presented by seasoned acting veterans from the Guthrie staff. Some are designed for children and others for adults and lifelong learners. Each branch location will offer two of the classes.

The first classes will take place Saturday, Jan. 23 at Waite Park and Clearwater libraries. Others have been scheduled, and yet more will be added to the events page as soon as they can be confirmed.

This is a great opportunity to have fun getting tips and techniques from staff at one of the top theaters in the nation. This program is funded with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage.

New programs are added to the GRRL schedule every week. Visit the library’s Events page at for the latest information.
