Instructions Delay Anticipated This Tax Season
The delivery of tax instruction booklets is likely to be delayed this tax season because of pending congressional action. Many people get their tax forms and instructions at the library, but the library may not have the instruction booklets on schedule this year. Here’s the information the library recently received from the IRS.
"The IRS is aware of the great interest in the 2012 tax forms, instructions and publications, and therefore, is shipping tax products as they become available. Since the availability of some tax products is impacted by pending congressional action, please note that instruction booklets may arrive weeks after you receive tax forms this year.”
This situation is beyond the control of the library. The IRS first publishes the electronic version of tax forms, instructions and publications on its website, www.IRS.gov, before it prints and ships the same information. Therefore, the IRS website is the most up-to-date source for federal tax products and information. Please check the IRS website for tax instructions. Library staff are unable to provide tax advice.
