Kids' Picture Books

Children's picture books are filled with wonder. What fun they are. As well as being a place where a child learns values such as kindness and honesty, children's picture books can provide fundamental building blocks of childhood literacy. Through picture books, children grow to understand that letters create words and words have meaning. Reading with a child is one of the great pleasures of life, creating a unique connection between child and adult imagination.
The library has a Kids' Picture Books list on the New, Best & Fun page tabbed on our catalog. It includes a wonderful selection of titles. Puss Jekyll, Cat Hyde by Joyce Dunbar, is as much fun for adults as children, describing how a docile pet becomes a fierce hunter at night. Tiptoe Joe by Ginger Foglesong Gibson and Laura Rankin describes the pride a papa bear takes in showing off his new cubs. And in Scaredy Squirrel Goes Camping by Melanie Watt, you meet a squirrel who doesn't like the outdoors!
The list is long. Take a look, place holds on the titles that interest you, and visit the library to see what delightful children's picture books are on the shelves today.
