Limited Tax Forms On Hand; Others Available Online
Tax forms will be available at Great River Regional Library locations this winter. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will not send tax forms and instructions to individuals by mail because a majority of people now file online. Last year, 96 million people filed their returns through the IRS online service and 20 million through paper returns. The IRS expects to save about $10 million by eliminating mailing.
Forms will be available from the IRS website, and a limited selection will be available at Great River Regional Library. Here are the forms available for this year's tax season at all GRRL locations:
Federal 2010 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ forms and instructions
Minnesota 2010 Income Tax forms and instructions
Minnesota 2010 Property Tax forms and instructions
Reproducible copies of other federal and state tax forms
Check out the Tax Forms Services page for links and more information.
Don't have a computer?
You may download and/or print state and federal forms using library Internet workstations. Call your local branch library to make a reservation.
You may access IRS and individual state income tax information and preparation sites using library Internet stations. You may need to create and remember passwords and personal identification numbers during the filing of taxes online. Users are cautioned that the Internet is not a secure medium. Personal information included in all transactions, files and communications may be subject to unauthorized access by third parties.
GRRL policy does not permit installation of third party software onto GRRL computers. Although some sites may allow full online filing of taxes without installation of local software, the time needed to complete the forms and file taxes online may exceed the reserved time allowed for individual computer use.
Printing and copying at the library costs 10 cents per page.
Please remember that library staff are not financial professionals and cannot assist patrons with filling out tax forms. Library staff can assist patrons in locating tax forms online and directing patrons to other print or online resources.
