The mural is finished at the Long Prairie Public Library and the artists are inviting everybody to a dedication and signing party, Saturday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m.
Four artists have been working since September to create a lovely mural in the public library. Three young artists, James Ruiz, Brianna Young, and Anthony Young, have been working under the guidance of Steven Corralejo. They have created a nearly thirty-foot long mural depicting their memories of growing up in Long Prairie. Their memories include the Dream Land Roller Rink, Lake Charlotte, the Long Drive-In Movie Theater and farming.
Everybody is invited to come to the library to see the mural and visit with the artists. Special Mexican pastries and sodas will be served.
The mural was made possible by a grant provided by the Five Wings Arts Council with funds from The McKnight Foundation supplemented with Legacy funds. Long Prairie Packing also provided financial assistance and the Long Prairie non-profit organization Dreams United/Sueños Unidos coordinated the project.
