Making Friends at Melrose Storytime
The library isn't just a great place for learning. It's a great place for children to meet and make friends.
On Thursday, June 7, about 40 children ages 3 to 8 gathered at the Melrose Public Library for a Leap Into Reading storytime. Branch Assistant Jennifer Frank led the storytime. As well as working part-time at the library, Jennifer is a kindergarten teacher and she has all the educator's skills for keeping kids focused and organized. Some were making snacks, some were making masks, and some, like the children in the photograph, made frogs on a stick while chatting with friends. They all learned about the life cycle of a frog and about other words beginning with the "f" sound.
Each of the 32 Great River Regional Library locations is offering a Leap Into Reading storytime this year, as well as the Summer Reading Program and lots of special programming using Legacy funding. Find out what's available at your local library.
