Mixed Blood Theatre to Perform at Melrose and Royalton Libraries
The Mixed Blood Theatre, a professional, multi-racial theater ensemble based in Minneapolis, is bringing its performances to Central Minnesota.
Mixed Blood will perform “Dr. King’s Dream” at two branches of the Great River Regional Library in January, 2010. All ages are invited to attend.
On Monday, Jan. 11, 6 – 7 p.m., it will perform the play at the Melrose Public Library.
On Saturday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m. – 12 noon, it will perform at the Royalton Public Library.
“Dr. King’s Dream” vividly demonstrates why Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is one of the most influential people in American history. The content is drawn almost entirely from his books, sermons, letters and speeches. Dr. King’s Dream has been a popular part of the theatre’s repertoire since 1980.
The Mixed Blood Theatre was founded in 1976 and presents more than 500 performances annually in the Alan Page Auditorium of its historic firehouse theatre as well in schools, churches, community centers and other locations.
These presentations are funded with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage.
