Mickey is 82!

Mickey is 82!

Mickey Mouse has been entertaining us for 82 years. He made his debut in a cartoon named Steamboat Willie at the Colony Theatre in New York City on Nov. 18, 1928.

Since then, he’s starred in more than 120 cartoons as well as The Mickey Mouse Club television show, comic strips and books.

Celebrate his birthday by checking out some classic Mickey from Great River Regional Library (GRRL). We’ve got DVDs of Classic Cartoon Favorites. You can Learn to Draw Mickey and Minnie with the help of a library book. And you can enjoy Mickey Mouse Classics: mouse tails, a graphic book full of cartoon stories from the '40s and ‘50s.

If you’re going to be in St. Cloud, register to enjoy the library's Mickey Mouse Birthday Party for children ages 3 and older on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Or if you can’t make it, throw your own party to honor Mickey. Check out Mickey’s Gourmet Cookbook: the most popular recipes from Walt Disney World and Disneyland for eating ideas.

For Mickey's birthday or for anybody else's special event, check out your library for super ideas.
