Gardening Help To Make Your Dream Garden Bloom
This is the time of year when those flower and seed catalogs appear in your mailbox, and the snowy cold days inspire longing dreams of lush green gardens and vibrant flower beds. This year, check out Great River Regional Library's extensive collection of garden how-to books, DVDs and videos to make sure you find the right plants and seeds for you and your garden. Some plants thrive in Central Minnesota (like the pretty, old-fashioned yellow rose pictured, Rosa harrisonii, also known as the Forty-niner) while others, although theoretically 'hardy' to this zone, don't really like our soil or our climate, no matter what the catalogs say. Rose lovers, don't miss The Prairie Rose Garden and Growing Roses In Cold Climates to learn more about successfully growing roses in Minnesota.
