Paynesville Branch Begins "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" Program

Beginning Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, the Great River Regional Library in Paynesville implemented "1000 Books Before Kindergarten," a program for children from birth through five years old. Designed to encourage love of books and reading and prepare children to learn to read, the program provides book bag and book giveaways for incentives along the way.

It will also provide a reading record for parents in which they can enter the names of all the books they read with their child. Brochures are available at the library with further information on how the program works. The Friends of the Paynesville Library and Paynesville Lutheran Church Endowment Fund are program co-sponsors.
