Poet Barb Hawes At Paynesville Branch Friday, April 24
April is National Poetry month: On Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m., join Barb Hawes, poet and artist from Marshall, MN, at the Paynesville Public Library for a discussion of her work.
She uses a style termed ekphrastic poetry, describing works of art with words, which dates back to the ancient Greeks. In "Ekphrastic Journeys," a book art project, she bends the form with poems that explore how six works of art shaped her understanding of art. Hawes is also a printer with an interest in book arts that started with studies of illuminated manuscripts. "Ekphrastic Journeys" is her third book art project. It is supported by a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council with funds appropriated by the McKnight Foundation. Join us for an hour of poetry, art and a bit of art history. Register online , or call or stop in to the Paynesville Public Library during open hours to register in person. Limit 60. For adults, teens and seniors.
