Travelling? Put Your Holds "On Hold"!
You're getting ready to travel and, sure enough, you notice that the hot best-seller you put on hold in late October has moved to the top of the hold list, and will come in to your local branch two days after you leave town! Luckily, you can put that hold on hold until you come back, and it's easy to do. Log on to Your Account then click "Holds." Put a check in the little box just to the left of the title you wish to suspend, fill in the date you'll be ready to check out the item, then click "Change Status." You should see that date listed in the "Suspend Until" column of your holds list. Now, your hold will continue to rise up the hold list, but if you get to the top before you're ready for the item, it will wait there until the date you specified. Note that items which already have a status of "In Transit" or "Being Held" cannot be suspended, but for all other items, this handy tool will help assure that your items arrive when you are ready for them.
