Hopper Visits Pierz For Leap Into Reading
Hopper, the Great River Regional Library "Leap Into Reading" mascot visited the Pierz Public Library on July 11.
Branch Assistant Renee Litke read some froggy stories to the kids and then showed them how to make paper bag frog masks.
Leap Into Reading is the name given to an initiative from the Minnesota Department of Education to promote early childhood reading. Children who are encouraged to enjoy books and begin reading early in life are those most likely to be successful throughout their school and adult life. Each of the 32 Great River Regional Library locations is offering at least one storytime with a frog theme in 2012. In addition, most libraries have regular storytimes targeted at specific age groups.
