Teen and Youth Book Club at Pierz Public Library
In June, the Pierz Public Library started a youth and teen book club. Many expressed interest in joining. There are twelve youth book club members. They are very excited about the club. Most took part in reading aloud, but some chose to hang back. The youth book club is reading Bronte's Book Club by Kristiana Gregory. This book is about a young girl who starts a book club in a new town as a way of making friends. Hopefully, as a group, the members will learn about the do's and don'ts of a book club. The kids all seemed to have a great time and are looking forward to the next meeting.
The teen book club was also successful. Only three showed up for the first evening, but we hope the word will spread and more will join next time. The teens are reading Separate Sisters by Nancy Springer. It revolves around divorce, sisters, trouble at school, and choices. The teens are interested in seeing what happens next in the book.
The book club members read aloud at the meetings if they wish. There is no out-of-library reading requirement. Snacks and refreshments are offered. If you are interested in joining, please talk to one of the Pierz Public Library staff.
