Hijab Tube is about a young Muslim woman who takes her questions about wearing hijab to YouTube and draws a range of responses. The hijab is a traditional head covering of Islamic women. Even within the Muslim community there is debate about the need to wear hijab. Some see it is a restriction of their freedom, while others feel it protects them from male scrutiny and is therefore liberating. “Hijab Tube” is Mixed Blood’s newest program and offers a unique perspective on Islam in 21st Century America.

The Mixed Blood Theatre is a professional, multi-racial theater ensemble based in the Twin Cities.

This program is funded with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota in 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage.
