Art is Alive at Royalton Library
The Royalton Public Library was buzzing with activity on Saturday, March 10. In addition to the normal library activities, two Legacy events were happening simultaneously. The creative energy in the room was palpable.
Artist Willicey Tynes was conducting the second of his two-part oil painting class. At the end of the class the students left with completed or nearly completed 11 x 14 landscape paintings. Willicey's knowledge of painting coupled with his easy manner, charming laughter and quick smile put the students at ease. Many of the adults in the class said they had never painted before. Instructor Willicey Tynes is photographed with class participants Angie Sahr and Linda Farrell.
In another area of the library artist Marie Olofsdotter guided students through a class that resulted in handcrafted books. These ornate books were constructed with colorful, handmade paper. They can be used to house poems, as journals, or to display keepsakes. Marie talked about how books of this nature are considered an art form.
