Daughters of Africa Delights Royalton Audience
It seemed appropriate that the audience that came to see the Mixed Blood Theatre at the Royalton Public Library on Friday, Feb. 10 was made up of all women. Thomasina Petrus told the stories of African American women using narratives and her incredible singing voice. She moved through history from the early slave days through the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s to the present age. Using minimal props she captivated the audience with her portrayals of Harriet Tubman, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Oprah, Queen Latifah and others. Daughters of Africa is a show worth seeing again and again.
