Hopper Leaps Into Royalton Storytime
Hopper, the library’s Leap Into Reading mascot, jumped right into the picture at the Royalton Public Library’s Leap Into Reading Storytime on Wednesday, June 20. Hopper (in sunglasses) had several smaller siblings at the storytime. Branch Assistant Elizabeth Lehn (top, center) organized the group.
Leap into Reading is a statewide initiative to emphasize the importance and value of reading with young children. Early exposure to books, stories and reading helps young children to develop an interest in reading. Children who learn to associate books and being read to with fun and enjoyment are more likely to build early reading skills. Educators know there is a strong correlation between reading skills and academic success.
Check at your local library for the availability of storytimes for various age groups, or check the Events page for special programs.
