Spring is in the Air

May programming at Great River Regional Library has a musical bent. Big Lake is having a program of lumberjack ballads from Brian Murphy and Nathan Gourley on May 1. Award-winning songwriter Elisa Korenne will teach songwriting and singing classes for children in Eagle Bend (May 8), Staples (May 8) and Upsala (May 18). Bluegrass musician and bestselling children’s author Douglas Wood will be in Albany May 11. Clearwater is offering Minnesota favorite Prudence Johnson May 19, on the same day Kimball is hosting Jack Pearson, the song strummin’ storyman.

And award-winning authors David Housewright, William Kent Krueger and Lorna Landvik, among others, will be at various libraries during the month.

If you’re not interested in music or authors, StoryCorps still has opportunities to record personal stories in Little Falls (May 16-18) and Staples (May 20-22).
