First Thursday, St. Cloud: Author Kathryn Fitzmaurice
St. Cloud is hosting an evening Skype conference with Author Kathryn Fitzmaurice for its First Thursday program on June 6, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. If you have a question for the author of "Destiny, Rewritten" we'd love to hear from you! You can drop off your question at any of the St. Cloud public service desks. Or, send an email with your question to firstname.lastname@example.org. You are also invited to attend the conference in the library's Mississippi Community Room where you can ask your question live. Fitzmaurice will be Skyping from her home in California.
Fitzmaurice is a former elementary schoolteacher who has successfully transitioned to full-time writing. Her first children's novel, "The Year The Swallows Came Early," was named a Best Kids' Book by Scholastic's Instructor Magazine. That book was followed by "A Diamond In The Desert," based on the true story of a baseball team from a WWII Japanese internment camp. It is a VOYA (Voice Of Youth Advocates) magazine 2012 Top Shelf Fiction selection for middle school readers, and the film rights have been purchased. Her latest novel, "Destiny, Rewritten," has been selected to several top books lists.
This is a great opportunity to learn from a professional children's author. It is funded in part with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
