Hopper Leaps Into Reading at St. Cloud
Hi there! Hopper the Frog here. I had so much fun today. I joined 37 boys and girls at the St. Cloud Public Library for stories and songs, and we even did a craft project. While my library helpers Connie and Bev read One Frog Sang by Shirley Parenteau and Leap Back Home To Me by Lauren Thompson, the children and I did hand motions and even made frog sounds. Ribbett! We sure enjoyed singing to Raffi’s Five Little Frogs, (available on the CD The Singable Songs). Then I watched the children create a frog scene using construction paper cutouts of frogs and lily pads. Those paper scenes sure reminded me of home. Each tadpole (child) was given a small toy frog as they left to remind them of our time together. I’ve been “hopping” around the state as part of the Leap Into Reading initiative. It’s never too early to encourage reading and reading readiness with your children. I look forward to “hopping” into your library branch soon!
