If you have recently printed from one of our public computers in St. Cloud, you have noticed a new piece of equipment: Coin boxes have been installed. This is in response to concerns about patron privacy. With tax season right around the corner and people printing out their forms, it’s easy to see why this additional level of privacy is a welcome change!
In the past, items sent to the printer would come out immediately, leading to issues with people picking up the wrong print job. With the new system, all print jobs are stored in the coin box computer until the person who created the document types in their password, pays at the coin box, and prints. This will cut down on the number of privacy issues, accidentally printing out more than the patron wanted, and so forth. Copies are ten cents a page, the same as before.
If you have questions about the new system, stop at the Reference Desk or the Children’s Room desk and ask one of the library staff! They are always happy to help.
