St. Michael Friends Host Another Successful Book Sale
Approaching the end of October for many means the Tricks and Treats of Halloween. For the Friends of the St. Michael Public Library, it means the annual Fall Book Sale has arrived. The always successful fall sale was held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Library receives donations from the community, and volunteers begin the sorting process as soon as the donations begin to come in. Some items are not accepted, like textbooks or books in poor condition. The sorting process helps eliminate those books, and ensures that the books for sale are in the best condition possible for the best prices. Then, on the Thursday before the sale, volunteers help put the items on the tables in the St. Michael City Hall Council Chambers with markers that identify the genre -- from cookbooks to adult fiction to children's board books. Items are clearly marked including specialty items like sets or very nice coffee-table books. Due to storage restrictions, the library will not take book donations for the March spring sale until January. Mark your calendars...the next sale will be March 22, 2014.
