Mobile Art On View at Staples Public Library
Jess Cavazos, a mobile artist from Brainerd, installed three mobiles in the Roundhouse children’s area of the Staples Public Library. Each mobile has has a different theme: dinosaurs with pages falling out of a book and various types of hand-painted dinosaurs (not pictured); fantasy with unicorns, fairies, mermaids and stars; and equipment and agriculture, anchored by an 18-wheeler truck with John Deere tractors and wheat symbols.
Each mobile also has brightly colored letters on pages drifting as the air moves the pieces. The works were commissioned by the Friends of the Staples Public Library. From left are Tom Kajer, board member; Don Garey, art committee member; Gloria Palmer, board president; artist Jess Cavazos; and Mary Sperley, Staples Public Library. Next time you visit the library, go to the RoundHouse to view the mobiles. It's a fun and inviting place for children and adults. (Photo courtesy of Staples World by Brenda Halvorson.)
