Use Early Literacy Calendar to Prepare Kids for Reading
Parents are their child’s first teacher, and simple activities that are done together can help plant the building blocks from which literacy grows.
Make learning fun with the library's printable Early Literacy Calendar. Each day on this monthly calendar suggests a parent/child activity that supports the practices of talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. These are the basics of the Every Child Read to Read program. We also included science and math activities, since STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) is becoming an established piece of early literacy. Feel free to print out the calendar and use it every day. By doing the activities, you will see that engaging with kids in even simple ways helps them get ready to read.
