Waite Park Friends Seek New Members

The Waite Park Friends of the Library has been serving the Al Ringsmuth Waite Park Public Library for five years and is looking for new members. The committed core membership has been instrumental in helping to bring additional programming and new materials to the library. For example, the Friends purchased an art hanging system for the library’s lower level to expand its art exhibit space. They funded several programs during the 2009 Summer Reading Program.

In 2010, the Friends expect to provide funds to pay for new library shelf signs, an outdoor storage unit, and folding chairs for programs. The group would like to take on bigger projects such as a book sale this summer, and having more hands to help with the organizing and running of the sale would make this possible. Other things on the library’s wish list that the Friends would like to provide in the future include a few comfortable reading chairs for the lower level adult collection area and more seating for parents and caregivers in the children’s area.

For more information about the Waite Park Friends group, contact Friends President Kathy Smith at 320-259-0730. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 5 p.m. at the Al Ringsmuth Waite Park Public Library.
