Write and Perform with Award-winning Songwriter in Waite Park
Children with a passion for music are invited to a songwriting workshop at the Waite Park Public Library – Al Ringsmuth Public Library. Children will write and perform an original song with songwriter and recording artist Elisa Korenne. The two day workshop takes place Monday, June 4 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, June 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. On the first day, children will create a song with Korenne’s help. On the second day, they will finish the writing, rehearse, and then perform the song at the Waite Park Family Fun Fest Kids Day at the Waite Park Community Park Shelter.
Korenne has over a decade of experience performing and writing indie rock, blues, and folk. She was commissioned by the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission to create Minnesota's Ordinarily Unsung Concert, a collection of songs for Minnesota's 150th birthday in 2008. This award-winning collection has been incorporated into a variety of story-and-song concerts and interactive educational workshops presented around the state at libraries, schools, and other venues.
To register for the workshop, please visit our events calendar or call or stop by the library. This artist-in-residence program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
