"Broken Circle Breakdown" is a story about the love between a tattoo artist and the banjo player in a bluegrass band. It won France's 2013 Cesar Award for Best Foreign Film. The setting is Belgium. He loves all things American, believing that America is a place where anybody can remake themselves. She has ink all over her body concealing the tattooed names of former lovers. Roger Ebert described the film as "a rich, raw, heartache of a film, a beautifully composed, soul-stirring drama about love, family, sex, sorrow, faith, and music." It's heartbreaking, with a terrific soundtrack. A great movie.
