New Griver.org

Navigating the new website:

On August 2, 2022, the griver.org website underwent several changes to both its design, layout, and how it operates. In this post, we will be going through all the changes.

Top Navigation Menu:

The old dropdown for Explore, Learn, Connect has been removed and those dropdown lists are now integrated into a singular menu. For the Hours/Locations tab, it has been changed into a dropdown mega menu for our patrons to select which branch they want to view. There is still the All Locations view to see a quick look at all branches, hours, address, and contact information.

Search Bar:

On the previous site, we had two search bars, one for our catalog and the other for the website. In an effort to limit confusion on which one was being accessed, we consolidated them both into a single search bar with dropdown options to switch between the catalog and the website.

Top Button:

When you scroll down a page, a circular button with the word, “TOP” will appear in the bottom right hand corner. This button will allow you jump back to the top of the page. This makes navigating long pages or returning to a top menu item much easier than the previous version. This feature, like all features, work on both desktop and mobile devices.

Page Changes:

Research Database:

The Research Database will look similar to what you may remember with one noticeable difference. At the top of the page, we have added three section buttons: "Resources available to everyone," "Resources only available in library," and "Resources available to GRRL area resident with barcode." These buttons can help you navigate the research database quicker, especially if you know which section you want to be in when accessing research databases and other library resources.

Events:

You will notice Events will look different than many are used to. We have, for the time being, reverted back to the classic catalog view. This is a temporary change and more changes will be coming in the days, weeks, and months to come.

New Best Fun:

There have been no significant changes made to the New Best Fun lists, but some lists may be empty or limited for a short period.
