The Becker Friends of the Library and Library Assistant Sherri Rasmussen are hosting a Make & Take craft day at the Becker Public Library on Monday, Dec. 1. Sherri will help kids ages 6 to 12 make holiday gingerbread houses using graham crackers and assorted candies. Decorating will start at 4:00 p.m. and end around 6:00 p.m. Read more »
Jazz pianist and singer Andrew Walesch will be performing at the Becker Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 6, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Relax and enjoy Andrew's holiday favorites while the kids visit Santa and shop for presents. The Elk River Public River recently presented a program titled World Of Music at the Library. It featured performers Leo and Kathy Lara. They are a husband and wife team who have been active as performers and educators within the Midwest since 1979. Leo is a native of Ecuador who is involved with the study and performance of Andean folk music. Read more »
Twenty-eight fiber artists are exhibiting quilts interpreting cycles at the Waite Park Public Library during November. The quilts are part of the Minnesota Contemporary Quilters Challenge: Cycles. The quilts portray cycles in colorful and intriguing ways through images of bicycles, washing machines, nature, weather, recycling, the moon, and more. Read more »
A giant Hubbard squash donated by patron Dennis Fogelson made its home at the St. Michael Public Library this past month. Patrons were encouraged to guess the weight of the beastly-sized vegetable. Patrons ventured guesses from 3 lbs. to a whopping 1000 lbs. The actual weight was 41 lbs. 6 oz. The winning guess went to Kylie Voss from Hanover, MN. Read more »
